PERRY, NY…. Sunday September 4th begins Wyoming County International Speedway’s weekend specials with the running of the annual Labor Day 100 for the SST Modifieds. Also on the racing card will be the SST Super Stocks in a 50 lap affair and the 4 Cylinder Stocks will be running in an extra distance event as well.
Defending SST Modified 100 winner and defending Track
Champion Andy Jankowiak looks to defend the victory on the 1/3rd
mile Bullring oval in Perry, NY. Current points leader TJ Zacharias would like
to add his name to the winners list of this prestigious event for the open-wheeled
machines. Drivers that have committed to this event include Chemung Speedrome
track champion Jimmy Zacharias, Chris and Matt Clemens and WCIS regulars Ed
Schueler, Dick Kluth, Jim Love, Tom Weist, Bill Roemasser and local dirt
campaigner Ray Bliss Jr. “Zeke the Streak” will be campaigning a car owned by
the Logsdon family. Those drivers will try to defend their home turf against
the best Sportsman-Modified campaigners in the area on the tight Bullring.
Willie Strusz from Michigan will be on hand to defend his
Super Stock 50 victory from one season ago. Joining him will be multi time
feature winners in 2011 Jay Canonico, Joe Mancuso, Phil Alhart Jr., as well as
Cassie Logsdon, Daniel Majchrzak, Mike Chenaille, Austyn Fugle, John
Bookmiller, Jeremy Gray, Brad Collings, and Brian Gleason. They will try to win
on the historic Perry oval as they try to hold off the invaders.
Kevin Grom will return to action at WCIS for the Labor
Day 25 for the wild and wacky 4 Cylinder Stocks as he will be joined by rookie
Joe Horvatits, Josh Eickhoff, Dakota Packman, Gert McDonald, Eric Hastreiter,
Jason Landcastle, and Brian Johnson. The 4 Cylinders always put on a great show
and this race is certainly one not to miss.
Each race will be paying extra money through the
donations of lap sponsorships for each of the three divisions in competition.
Fan John Kondziela not only put money towards the SST Modified feature, he also
donated cases of Castle Streakproff Glass Cleaner to be given to the drivers
that finish in the top 5 of the SST Modified feature. In total, over $800 will be given throughout
the field of the SST Modifieds. The Supers will be racing for an extra $375 and
a bonus is also on the line for the Supers through the generosity of Bambino
Bar and Kitchen in Buffalo. “Any Super Stock driver that finishes in the top
five the night prior (Saturday September 3rd) at Dunn Tire Raceway
Park and then wins at WCIS the next day will be given the extra money” as well
as bragging rights. Special thanks to
Joe Mancuso and his sponsor for the donation. The 4 Cylinders will also be
racing for extra dough on this night.
Pit gates for this event will be swinging wide at 3pm as
well as the Grandstands with race time being at 6:00pm sharp. For more
